To celebrate our 20th anniversary we are holding events on the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th of May.

Daily shows:- We Are Aliens, Cell! Cell! Cell!, Welcome to the Universe (with bonus show after Losing the Dark).

We will also be observing the Sun using our solar telescope to safely view solar flares. Workshops and Face Painting will also take place.

Live Virtual Tours of the Night Sky

Presented by one of our astronomers, using the Planetarium Astrodome you will be taken on a tour around the sky tonight. Showing you constellations, nebulae and planets.

Friday 3rd – 8.30pm             Saturday 4th – 8.15pm                  Sunday 5th – 8.15pm

Stargazing Evenings

Take advantage of the beautiful dark night skies on the Isle of Wight and learn to explore the heavens.

Weather permitting using some of the telescopes here at the Planetarium we will show you some of the wonders of the night sky.

Bring warm clothes. Not suitable for under 8's.

Friday 3rd – 9.15pm             Saturday 4th – 9.00pm                  Sunday 5th – 9.00pm

Solar System Experience

An understandable and fascinating look at our solar system and our place in it whether you are eight or eighty years old.

Lasting around 2 hours. Come with us on a walk through the Solar System (1km walk) and then learn about Seasons, Phases of the Moon and the size of the planets.

  • We go on Solar Trail Walk through the Country Park, visiting each planet at scale distances from the planetarium.
  • Find out what causes the Seasons and why the length of day changes through the Year, all around the world.
  • Find out how we get the Phases of the Moon, making the Moon change shape and the effect upon our seas, as Tides change each month.
  • How we see the planets and the differences between them. We shall safely look at our Sun and see it is a great glowing sphere of gas.
  • In these events we are looking at the effect of gravity and light and shadows.
