Spacedays
"Astronomy to go!"

In 1998, after six years of working with schools at the Planetarium, we embarked on a new venture to bring our facilities into your school. Our interactive space sessions involve working with groups of your pupils on a rotational basis, going through the Earth and Beyond strand of the Science National Curriculum at Key Stages 1, 2 or 3. We use our mobile planetarium dome, and other teaching aids which have proved so invaluable to schools. These include our tellurian table, showing why we have seasons and changing length of day and night, planet and other models and video resources. We have introduced new methods of presenting some topics, straight forward and entertaining pupil assessments and project sheets for SATS (available prior to visit if requested).

We provide either day or half day sessions, up to 120 students in a day and 60 in a half day, in two by three hour sessions. Throughout the three hour period various media are used and a range of activities to stimulate the students to learn and demonstrate understanding. These Spacedays are comprehensive and unique, and they are currently NOT offered by other Planetariums.
A growing number of schools across the UK, invite us to visit and return to them in the run up to SATS
